Family and Consumer Sciences
Overview
Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) focuses on enhancing the lives of individuals, their families, communities, and organizations. Students will acquire the knowledge and skills required to help people make informed decisions to safeguard their health and optimize their quality of life. The Family and Consumer Sciences minor provides the opportunity to concentrate your classes in a specific FCS area of interest:
- Fashion Design and Merchandising (FDM)
- Food, Nutrition and Dietetics (FND)
- Human Development and Family Science (HDFS)
- Interior Design (ID)
Point of Pride
Illinois State’s Lois Jett Historic Costume Collection supports education, research, and outreach, with more than 2,000 items of dress, dating from the 1870s to present day.
