The Board of Trustees of Illinois State University appointed Larry Dietz as the University’s 19th president on March 22, 2014.
In his previous position as vice president, Dietz led the Division of Student Affairs, which includes the Dean of Students Office, Student Health Services, Student Counseling Center, University Housing Services, Disability Concerns (renamed Student Access and Accommodation Services), Career Center, Campus Dining Services (later combined with the Bone Student Center and renamed Event Management, Dining, and Hospitality), Campus Recreation, Student Affairs Information Technology, Health Promotion and Wellness, and the University Police, as well as other units responsible for co-curricular learning opportunities and programs.
Dietz is also a tenured associate professor in the Department of Educational Administration and Foundations.
Students who choose to study with the professors at Illinois State University have available to them majors in over 59 areas. These majors are contained within our six academic Colleges: Applied Science and Technology, Arts and Sciences, Business, Education, Fine Arts, and Mennonite College of Nursing. We think of ourselves as a large institution with a small school atmosphere. In other words, students who remark about their undergraduate or graduate experiences on our campus generally say that the campus has a very "small" feel to it. This is a true testament to the faculty and staff at Illinois State University who work with our students on a daily basis.
