Alan Page

Alan PageIllinois State University’s 2012 Fall Speaker Series will kick off on Monday, Sept. 17, with Minnesota Associate Justice and Professional Football Hall of Fame player Alan Page, who will speak during Constitution Week. Page will give a talk titled Protections Afforded by our Constitution for Civic Engagement at 3 p.m. in the Brown Ballroom of the Bone Student Center. The event is free and open to the public.

An associate justice on the Minnesota Supreme Court, Page attended law school while still a player for the Minnesota Vikings. Along with distinguished judicial and athletic careers, he is the founder of the Page Foundation, which provides much-needed financial and mentoring assistance to underrepresented students, in exchange for those students’ commitment to further volunteer service in the community. Page’s talk is sponsored by the American Democracy Project.

The Speaker Series of Illinois State University seeks to bring innovative and enlightening speakers to the campus with the aim providing the community a platform to foster dialog, cultivate enriching ideas and continue an appreciation of learning as an active and lifelong process.
