The photos of Robert Shaw have captivated fans for years. Shaw will be on campus to speak about his recent photo book with a talk titled The Making of the Book Abraham Lincoln Traveled This Way: The America Lincoln Knew at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 13, on the main floor of Milner Library. A book signing will follow the event, which is sponsored by David Davis Foundation, Milner Library, Heritage Association of McLean County and Sage Trust.
Shaw, the founder of Firelight Publishing, has created an amazing collection of photography following the places Abraham Lincoln lived and worked. With the help of historian Michael Burlingame, Shaw captures landscapes across Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Washington, D.C., and the East Coast. Two years in the making, the book is complemented with Lincoln’s speeches, letters and other writings. A professional photographer of nature and wildlife since 1986, Shaw founded Firelight Publishing to bring his photos of nature, and now Lincoln’s footsteps, to the page.
