Stuart Schuette '86

photo of stuart schuetteStuart Schuette, Illinois State University alumnus and chief operating officer for US Foods, will be the keynote speaker for Business Week 2013 at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, in Braden Auditorium of the Bone Student Center.

The event is free and open to the public. Sponsored by the College of Business, the event is part of the 2013 Speaker Series of Illinois State University, which is celebrating the 150th anniversary of the Alumni Association.

As COO of US Foods, Schuette oversees the operational and administrative functions of more than 70 divisions for one of America’s leading foodservice distributors to restaurants, healthcare and hospitality facilities, government operations and educational institutions. Based in Rosemont, Ill., US Foods employs about 25,000 associates in more than 60 locations.

A 1986 Illinois State graduate with a degree in in accounting and business administration, Schuette has held a variety of executive positions with US Foods. During his 20-year career at US Foods, he has served as region president, zone president, division president, division vice president in finance, manager in financial operations and manager in planning.

Prior to joining US Foods, he was an executive at Martin Brower, a subsidiary of Reyes Holdings, LLC., and the world’s largest distributor of products to more than 8,400 McDonald’s restaurants. Schuette was also senior financial analyst at Heller Financial and began his career in the Small Business Division of Arthur Anderson in Chicago.

Schuette also serves on the board of directors of the Chicago Urban League.

The Speaker Series of Illinois State University seeks to bring innovative and enlightening speakers to the campus with the aim of providing the community with a platform to foster dialogue, cultivate enriching ideas and continue an appreciation of learning as an active and lifelong process.
