Board Goals for 2012

• Support and assist the President in reaching his long-term goals.

• Support the University in its efforts to provide a premier educational experience for students, preparing them for success in a culturally and economically diverse environment.

• Promote a stronger university image that clearly describes the strengths of the University, students and our academic programs, distinguishing Illinois State as the best university in the State of Illinois.

• Support salary enhancements to allow the University to recruit and retain the high quality faculty and staff by bringing salaries in-line with the University’s peer group median by FY2016.

• Support the revised Educating Illinois and implementation of the Campus Master Plan.

• Build strong working relationships with the students, alumni, faculty and staff through participation in activities on and off the campus.

• Continue the planning process for the Fine Arts Complex, Milner Library and the renovation of Hancock Stadium.

• Reaffirm the Board’s strong commitment to building an institution that mirrors the diverse culture of the State of Illinois and maintain efforts to offer a welcoming and caring environment for all students, faculty and staff.

• Assist the President and the Division of University Advancement in promoting ISU to alumni and a variety of stakeholders.

• Annually assure the smooth integration of new Trustees.  Provide opportunities for Trustee orientation, education and training.

• Strengthen and cultivate relationships with the Illinois General Assembly, the Governor’s Office and the federal government.

• Continue involvement with and support of all ongoing fundraising activities by the University including academic and athletic programs.

• Support university efforts to attract and recruit academically high quality students while working with the President to enhance need-based and merit-based financial assistance.
