Latin American and Latino/a Studies
Overview
The goals of the Minor in Latin American and Latino/a Studies are to provide students with key concepts, information, and a foundation of knowledge rooted in several academic disciplines, to examine the social, political, and cultural challenges of Latin America, the Caribbean, and U.S. Latino/a populations, and to foster a multi-cultural and multi-lingual environment by focusing on the interrelations between the United States, Latin America, the Caribbean, and its descendant populations
Point of Pride
There are several student organizations connected to the Latin American and Latino/a Studies program, including the Association of Latin American Students, Black and Latino Male Movement, Latin American Theatre Association, Ritmo Del Alma Latin Dance Team, and Spanish Club.
Why study Latin American and Latino/a Studies?
The field of Latin American studies observes the history, culture, and politics of both Latin America and Latin Americans across the globe.
