Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (CARES Act/CRRSAA Act) Federal Reporting

Illinois State University is sharing the following additional data to fulfill federal reporting requirements.

CARES Quarterly Reporting

Illinois State University has signed and returned to the U.S. Department of Education the Certification and Agreement forms for both the student portion (50%) and the institutional portion (50%) of CARES Act funds.

Illinois State will use all of the funds received from the student portion ($8,060,711) to provide CARES Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students. Illinois State University has approximately 22,252 students that may be eligible to participate in programs under Section 484 in Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 and thus may be eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act. Students submit an application to apply for funds and a committee reviews to determine eligibility and amount of awards. As of November 16, 2020, we have distributed $8,060,711 in CARES Emergency Financial Aid Grants to 10,554 students.

Illinois State will use the funds received from the institutional portion ($8,060,711) to reimburse the university for a portion of refunds to students for room, board and mandatory fees in spring 2020 when face to face instruction was disrupted.

CRRSAA: Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF II)

As of June 30, 2021, Illinois State University received an additional $8,060,711 of Emergency Financial Aid funds under the CRRSA Act (HEERF II) and has distributed all $8,060,711 of these supplemental federal funds in Emergency Financial Aid Grants to 8,681 students. Illinois State University had an estimated 19,891 students eligible to participate in programs under the CRRSA Act.
