What you need before you apply

You’ve done your research, explored your options, and know that Illinois State is the perfect place for you. Now it’s time to apply.

Here's what you should have ready.

Freshman

Unofficial high school transcript, so you can tell us your GPA and courses you've completed.

SAT or ACT scores and subscores.

Optional personal statement, if you feel this is right for you.

Social Security Number (if you have one).

Intended major or program. Haven't decided yet? Apply as "Undeclared."

Create your account. Be ready to save your new Illinois State username (we call this a "ULID") and password. You'll need that to check your application status and do other tasks.

Transfer Student

Social Security Number (if you have one).

Courses you are taking or will take before you come to Illinois State.

Intended major or program, if you have chosen one.

Optional personal statement, if you feel this is right for you.

If you have earned fewer than 24 semester hours at the time you apply, you will also need:

  • SAT or ACT score.
  • Cumulative high school transcript.

Create your account. Be ready to save your new Illinois State username (we call this a "ULID") and password. You'll need that to check your application status and do other tasks.
