Point of Pride

All Forensic Investigations students have the opportunity to study crime lab and investigations techniques in an on-campus Forensics lab.

Why study Forensic Investigations?

Applied Laboratory Experiences

You will seamlessly move from classroom lectures to our on-site crime scenes and then into our state-of-the-art forensic laboratory. Conveniently located in one location, these facilities are designed for small class sizes, teamwork, hands-on learning, and individualized instruction.

Careers of the Future

The demand for forensic science technicians is expected to grow by 15% between 2024 and 2034 (much faster than for all occupations at 4%). In addition, entry level positions that require this bachelor’s degree enjoy a median starting salary of $75,000. Criminal justice agencies, from police departments to public defenders and private industry, are actively seeking degreed students who arrive with these specialized investigative skills giving ISU CJS students an advantage in the job market.

Faculty

Criminal justice students are taught by our award-winning faculty. The faculty members bring real-life cases and experiences into the classroom. Students will have the opportunity to join exclusive research teams, to join our faculty as they assist criminal justice agencies across the state, and to apply their skills to advance critical research in the field.
