Point of Pride

Illinois State's insurance program was ranked No. 8 in the nation by U.S. News & World Report for 2022.

Why study Insurance?

Insurance allows policyholders the ability to shift the financial burden of unpredictable loss caused by natural catastrophes nad other perils.  To facilitate the tranfer of risk, insurers employ a variety of professionals to screen potential buyers, estimate policyholder loss, invest premium dollars, and manage financial resources to promptly settle claims when they become due.  In addition, individuals with insurance expertise may choose careers advising businesses how to effectively handle insurance risks rather than working for insurance complanies.
