Physics
Overview
The physics minor is designed for students interested in an allied field, such as physics, engineering, and industrial/business employment. You’ll have a well-balanced curriculum, concentrating on theoretical and experimental physics, computational physics, and mathematics.
Point of Pride
Illinois State’s Solar Car Team was founded by Department of Physics students and faculty. Team members have repeated top finishes in national and international solar car races.
Why study Physics?
The physics field makes major discoveries that change lives while continuing to explain and understand the unknowns of the world. Our program develops skills that are beneficial in any career. You’ll learn to think, analyze and solve problems.

Minors can only be declared by current Illinois State students. Current students can use the Apply to Your Program tool on My.IllinoisState.edu.
