College of Arts and Sciences World Languages Graduation Requirement
All graduates of the College of Arts and Sciences must satisfy a world language graduation requirement that may be met in one of the following ways:
- Completion of Level III proficiency of one world language in high school or successful completion of the second semester or higher of college-level world language with a passing grade or equivalent proficiency as determined by examination or State Seal of Biliteracy
- Students who have successfully completed one semester of college world language credit may elect to satisfy this requirement by studying abroad in an approved program in a country whose main language is the same as the one studied in college
- American Sign Language may be used to fulfill this requirement by transfer credit or by proficiency
- International students from a country where English is not the primary language and whose first language is not English will have this requirement waived
