  2. Transfer Registration and Orientation Day (TROD)

Let us give you a proper welcome to campus.

You’re already familiar with college life so let’s get you settled into life at Illinois State. Here’s what you can expect at your transfer orientation.

  • New faces.

You’ll meet a lot of people during orientation but we won’t make it overwhelming. You’ll go through the day with a cohort of other transfer students just like you.

  • A breakdown of all things Illinois State.

From the classroom to weekend fun, Illinois State has a lot to offer. We’ll make sure you know how to access everything you need to be and do your best.

Quick plug: We think you'll find Academic Info and Technology Help to be super valuable sessions.

  • Campus tour.

No need to worry about getting lost on your first day. We’ll show you where you need to be and cover all the hot spots on campus, where to study, and fun places to hang out.

  • Food.

Some of our favorite restaurants are on campus. Find your new go-to when you have lunch in the Bone Student Center. Our treat.

  • Get your student ID card.

Be camera-ready and start feeling like an official Redbird. Your Redbird Card gives you access to all kinds of perks and activities on and off campus.

What to Bring

  • Photo ID: You need this so you can get your Redbird card. This card gets you into just about everything when you’re a student. A driver’s license, state ID, military ID, or passport will do.

  • Paper and Pen: For noting all the important stuff you don’t want to forget.

  • Comfortable Shoes: We do a decent amount of walking at orientation and sore feet tend to ruin the mood.

  • Your questions and concerns: There’s nothing too outrageous. We’ll give you the inside scoop on whatever you want to know.

A Few Reminders

Keep an eye on your My Illinois State account for any to-do items and tasks. These are all things we need before you start your semester, such as:

  • Transcripts: Send us your final college transcripts.

  • Math Placement: If you need your math requirement, ALEKS will put you in a math class that’s a good fit.

  • Immunizations: Provide proof of immunity for tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis, measles, mumps, rubella and meningitis.

  • Housing: If you plan to live on campus, let us know and submit your housing contract.

Directions and Parking

Transfer Registration and Orientation Day parking is available in the Bone Student Center Parking Lot. We'll cover the cost when you check in.
