Sociology and Anthropology - Social Aspects of Aging

The graduate certificate in Social Aspects of Aging is a multidisciplinary program designed to offer a limited number of academically and professionally oriented graduate experiences in aging.

The graduate certificate program is located within the Department of Sociology and Anthropology in cooperation with the Departments of Family and Consumer Sciences, Psychology, Health Sciences, Speech Pathology and Audiology, and the School of Social Work.

This certificate requires 12 credit hours for completion.

University Admission Requirements

A student applying to a graduate certificate program must:

  • have earned a four-year bachelor's degree or its equivalent from a college or university that is accredited by the appropriate regional accrediting association, or do so within one academic year

Additional Program Admission Requirements

A student applying to this program must:

  • submit a current resume or curriculum vita
  • submit a statement of purpose, that explains your career goals and why you are applying to this program
  • submit a writing sample, preferably a paper from a sociology course or other college course
  • provide an official transcript from each higher education institution attended
  • provide an official TOEFL/IELTS Score (if applying as an international student)
  • submit names and email addresses of three references for letters of recommendation within the online application.
