Task Force Project: Inclusive access to resources and funding for recruitment of faculty and staff
Champion: Janice Bonneville, Lisa Mason
Status: Ongoing
Implementation Team Actions
- Human Resources was contacted by an ISU colleague regarding possible membership in the Black Doctoral Network. Joining this unit gives HR yet another resource to recruit faculty of color to our campus.
- Human Resources made outreach to the community in an effort to better address spousal hire efforts. Meetings were held with various community stakeholders (e.g. - State Farm, Country Companies, Heartland Community College; Bloomington Human Resource Council) regarding the needs of the campus, the value of the program and the steps to move forward. One placement occurred during the reporting period and three efforts are ongoing.
- During the reporting period, two staff in Human Resources completed training and testing to become Certified Diversity Recruiters. The training taught them tips and tools to more effectively locate and interact with diverse and underrepresented individuals who may be interested in joining the ISU community. The training was not designed for a specific job search but, rather, with tools to provide outreach to candidate pools for future consideration when positions become available
Next Step/Timeline:
- Human Resources will continue to search for avenues to recruit the top candidates.
